BIM Manager with 14+ years of experience. Currently leading BIM coordination on the Sciences Complex Phase 2 at Université de Montréal for MSDL Architectes — one of the best architecture firms in Montréal.
All resources diminish with sharing — except knowledge, which multiplies and grows through it.
I am a BIM Manager with over fourteen years across architectural design, BIM coordination and digital construction management. My career spans three continents — from Algeria to Canada — progressively senior roles, and projects of national significance.
Today I work at MSDL Architectes in Montréal — one of the best architecture firms in Montréal, designers of Maison Manuvie, National Bank Place, and YUL Condos — leading BIM coordination on the Sciences Complex Phase 2 at Université de Montréal. Previously I served as Chief Architect / BIM Coordinator at CSCEC Algeria (China State Construction), where I led BIM workflows on major Algerian hospitality projects including the Hyatt Regency Algiers Airport and the Sofitel Thalassa & Diététique Sea & Spa complex.
BIM is not a modeling discipline for me — it is a complete project information management methodology. I work the full lifecycle from design through construction to facility management, using open standards IFC, BCF and ISO 19650. I'm proficient across Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, Bluebeam, Solibri, Synchro, Speckle, Dynamo, Power BI and Python — enough range to adapt to any project's technical environment.
I co-founded BIMATIKA — a small collective of senior architects developing BIM solutions, including a Revit plugin and a web app called BimFlow. On the side, I've published technical articles on Speckle + Power BI integration and was featured by Speckle Systems as an innovative example in the AEC industry.
A landmark institutional project on Campus MIL in the heart of Montréal — I lead the full BIM coordination between all design companies, engineering disciplines and construction stakeholders. Managing the BIM Execution Plan, naming conventions, LOD compliance, clash detection cycles, model federation, and real-time progress tracking across the multi-discipline consortium.
Quebec's Minister of Higher Education Martine Biron, with Finance Minister Éric Girard, gave the official green light to the Phase 2 launch — combined federal and provincial commitment of over $200M, plus a $139.4M contribution from the Courtois Foundation ($100M historic donation in 2021, plus a new $39.4M tranche).
The project adds two 32,000 m² pavilions flanking the existing Sciences Complex, relocating the Departments of Mathematics & Statistics and Computer Science & Operations Research, uniting all six natural sciences departments on a single site. The Courtois Institute — state-of-the-art labs for advanced materials, computing and AI — will occupy one of the two new wings. Delivery targeted for 2029.
BIM coordination at scale demands automation. I build Dynamo graphs, Python scripts and Power BI pipelines that replace manual checks — and ship them as reusable team assets.
Dynamo + Python script that detects "By Linked View" and "Custom" overrides in Visibility/Graphics settings across federated models — flags discrepancies before clash detection.
Dashboard for tracking BIM modeling progress on construction sites — integrates Power BI Desktop, Google Sheets, and Revit through SVG exports. Published on LinkedIn.
Power BI dashboard tracking clash resolution rates over time across disciplines and zones — approved-vs-clashing ratios, trends by month, and breakdowns by level.
Power BI checker validating naming conventions, parameters, and view templates against client BIM requirements — flags every non-conforming family, filter, or style before delivery.
Power BI report auditing Revit view template filter usage across the project — active vs. inactive filters, rule counts, and coverage by view — pairing with the team's Excel REF/REF(X) reference matrix.
Interactive dashboards using Speckle and Power BI to communicate modeling status to external stakeholders. Featured by Speckle Systems as an industry example.
A closer look at CSCEC Algeria projects — hospital coordination, institutional headquarters, a 4,000-space parking structure, and the parametric detail libraries built along the way.
Two hospital complexes (720 and 520 beds) for a new university hospital centre west of Algiers. Supported the structural team's BIM coordination with other disciplines and the design office — using BIM 360 model comparison to track architectural and structural revisions across phases and flag clashes before site meetings.
Headquarters building for the Djamaa El Djazair complex operator — contributed to initial design, moucharabieh calligraphy detailing, and full furniture modeling. On the Ministry of Habitat (MHUV) headquarters, led the architecture modeling team as BIM Coordinator, building naming and verification workflows that delivered a warning-free federated model.
4,000-space parking structure and logistics centre at Aïn Naâdja hospital, Algiers — 15,000 m² footprint, 5 levels, 5 basements, and 6 federated models (architecture, structure, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, site). Directed BIM coordination and a 3-person modeling team from local server through migration to BIM 360, with clash detection in Navisworks.
Built a library of parametric 2D construction details — masonry, retaining walls, roof waterproofing, joint covers — directly inside Revit, cutting execution-detail turnaround without leaving the BIM environment. Also modeled exaggerated, context-accurate 3D details for hard-to-visualize site conditions, like curved ramp formwork.
Leading BIM on the Sciences Complex Phase 2 at Université de Montréal. Responsible for BIM management across all design companies, LOD compliance under NormeBIM-UdMV7, BEP analysis, clash detection cycles, model federation, and client estimation handover. Producing custom Revit view template filter systems and automation scripts in Dynamo / Python.
Led BIM workflows on major Algerian hospitality projects, including the Hyatt Regency Algiers Airport and the Sofitel Thalassa & Diététique Sea & Spa complex — Africa's largest thalassotherapy hotel. Managed teams of up to 35 people across design and modeling disciplines. Built BIM execution plans, naming conventions, LOD matrices, and federated coordination workflows.
